Overcoming Travel Fears: Your Guide

Today is the day. You've been wanting to travel, so today is the day you plan that trip! Fear, time, money, and effort all play a role in travel so let's reset your mind to look at travel in a positive light without all that fear clouding your mind.

Start looking into local travel! Almost everyone lives near a big city they haven't been to within a five-hour drive from home. For instance, when I used to live in Austin Texas, I decided to take a trip to San Antonio to see the riverwalk for a weekend. My budget was set to $250 for the weekend (half of it went to gas), and I set off with a $50 hotel room booked for one night so I could spend Saturday and Sunday living it up on the riverwalk! With only roughly $80 I got some cheap eats and visited most of the free events, but most importantly I did it. I got out of the house and set out on a trip I planned!

When you work a 9-5 local job makes it complicated when you plan a trip. However, It's still possible to plan trips and the difficulty changes per situation, so let's talk about how to tackle that too. Start small and find a weekend where you can take off a Monday or a Friday to get some extra time in. Even 1 extra day can allow for a more extensive trip without the loss of half a year's worth of your paid time off!
